LSVT Big for parkinsons
What is LSVT BIG?
LSVT BIG (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment – BIG) is a specialised, research-based physiotherapy programme designed to help people with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions improve their movement, balance, and quality of life. It focuses on retraining the brain and body to move with bigger, more purposeful actions—counteracting the small, slow movements that often develop with Parkinson’s.
Originally developed to address speech and swallowing difficulties (LSVT LOUD), the BIG programme adapts these principles to whole-body movement.
Who is it for?
LSVT BIG is ideal for individuals with:
Parkinson’s disease (early to mid-stage)
Atypical Parkinsonism
Other neurological conditions affecting movement and coordination
It’s especially effective for those who are noticing:
Smaller, slower steps
Difficulty with balance or posture
